About Us – The Team Behind Wahdat Rugs
For over 40 years, Wahdat Rugs has been a trusted name in the wholesale and retail trade of hand-knotted rugs in Hamburg. Our team combines generations of experience with a modern entrepreneurial mindset, united by a shared passion for authentic Oriental rugs.
Our story began in the early 1980s with brothers Ahmad and Tamim Wahdat, who turned a small rug exhibition into a renowned family business known for its commitment to fine handmade rugs. Through frequent travels to Persia, India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, we built a strong network of reliable weavers and suppliers that continues to support us today.
Since 2015, Jakob Wahdat, a trained engineer, has been part of the business. He leads our e-commerce division and manages our online shop Rugway (www.rugway.de), where we offer our extensive rug collection for customers across Europe.
Our operations are supported by Ehsan Herawi, who has been working with AWT Trading GmbH for over 20 years. As our warehouse and logistics manager, he ensures every rug is handled with care and delivered reliably.
The newest addition to the team is Finn Kirschnereit, a graduate in business psychology, who is responsible for marketing and strategic development. With his fresh perspective, he drives forward our communication strategy and customer engagement.
